Guru Tegh Bahudar gave his life to save Kashmiri Hindus and Hinduism from barbaric Aurangzeb. The torture given to him by Mughal emperor reminds us how brutal and unhuman Mughal regime was.

Its Sad that People are using Aurangzeb to describe Mughal Regime as brutal but fail to accept that his brother Dara Shukoh was a secular person who translated bhagwad Geeta in Persian. he was also put to death by Aurangzeb, they ignore Akbar, they ignore tha fact that Jahngir fought a war just to save a hindu queen who had tied Rakhi to him. they also ignore the fact the Last emperor Bahadur Shah zafar who had a hindu mother played holy in palace and was almost declared a non muslim by the Mullahs

To the above person. 1) Who calls Akbar 'Secular' ? 2) Jahangir was not sent the Rakhi, Humayun was, and he Never Reached in time to help the Rani of Chittor. 3) Most Mughal invaders had hindu mothers. what difference does it make ?

@Tikka: To add to your comments: 1) Wht ever Akbar did was to pacify the Hindoos from any probable rising against his empire. His Strategy to rule the Empire peacefully. 3) Mughal nobles married into Hindoo families again as marriage was considered as a strategic alliance. Not a big deal!

I am sooooo glad to see refreshing comments by Tikka, Shreenivas and Deepanjana.

@Shreenivas: A news article to second your opinion on Auranzeb's Islam Vs Dara Sukoh's Islam: http://www.rediff.com/news/2007/feb/16francois.htm

Good discussions here, we finally have people with sensible comments, none of the sugar coated kind!

@Deepanjana Ghosh- the link indeed is very enlightening for everybody, including myself...all should read it without wasting time in this debate..thanx for the link.

I think the painting is by Sohan Singh of Brahma Bhuta market Amritsa.
