Thank you Subbiah for posting this 'Flora of India'. It reminded me of my early student days when we used to wander around identifying plants in the Kumaon Hills, Western Ghats, and in U.P. using similar Floras (mainly Hooker's). After some 60 years, I still have a liking for plants and even have the time to identify them on my 20-ac wilderness. So, I purchased a copy of the 'Flora of Alberta' only to discover that the game of identification of wild plants is completely changed. The Flora classifies plants not according to taxonomy (as in the copy above) but by the colors of the flowers and, of course, supported by lovely color photographs. Although it seemed weird at first, I now find it quite practical as it is so much quicker to identify wild plants in the field using flower color as the basis. It is completely unscientific, but works nicely. The only limitation is that it would not identify any naturally-occurring mutations.
