I suppose so. This particular digitized version was a 1961 reprint.

Monier Williams is the best dictionary available till date. The Sanskrit- English is good though one must learn to navigate properly. The English-Sanskrit to me looks rather ill formed. I have both of them in my collection. I bought the Sanskrit-English to help me with translation. But often I found the Sankrit equivalent as given by MMW not conforming to principles of Sanskrit word formation. He advises in his elaborate Introduction to the book, to go for kR^idanta+KR^i-dhAtu forms which might suit Derived Languages like Hindi, Bengali Kannda Telugu etc.. but not elegant for Sanskrit application. This has actually put me off esp., the English-Sanskrit one. The Sanskrit_English is well made with good cross references to the sources of meaning. We the students of Sanskrit prefer to go the dhAtu-analysis-context sensitive way. Like the other asked me to check the dhatu-pATha for the derivation of the word "svadayati". I am impressed by TaranAtha Bandyo/ChhaTTopAdhyAya the tarkavAgIsha's shabdArtha kalpadrumaH as the best dictionary arranged in the spirit of Sanskrit. The derivation of the whole word dhAtu upward is given and one gains philology-wise, amd can move with the author on word formation...For clarity esp in the case of nouns the learned pundit gives menings in 5 popular Indian Languages. I hope to buy this book priced at about Rs 10000.- in the coming World Sanskrit Book Fair 7-10 Jan 2011.
