This is a fascinating topic as it deals with Mumbai and Gwalior--two places which I visit frequently --- Mumbai for the Afghan Church( --and Gwalior for the Teli-ka -Mandir---linked inextricably with the Mutiny--1857(latter) and the Afghan wars 1835--43 for the former 1---AFGHAN CHURCH---IN OLD NAVY NAGAR-COLABA--MUMBAI--ORIGINAL NAME--CHURCH OF ST JOHN THE EVANGALIST--GOTHIC--DEDICATED TO THE DEAD OF THE AFGHAN WARS---beautiful glass- stained windows--perhaps the only place in this metro where there is this great sense of deja vu--and where one can spend hours in contemplation. Gwalior--Teli-ka -mandir in GWALIOR FORT--captured by Rani Laksmi bai in June 1858--from the Scindia rulers who were British allies--died on 17 June of a bullet wound. Her Samadhi is in the Phool Bagh area ofv the Fort---- Hermann Goetz has written an excellently researched thesis on the this temple entitled"'The Last Masterpiece of Gupta Art" in his book '"Studies in the History ,Religion, and Art of Classical and Mediaeval India"
