I am a little sceptical of books on ancient India written so long ago...so much more evidence has come to light after 1912. In fact, the Indus Valley Civilisation was discovered only in 1921...so a book such as this would be more a historical curiosity than anything else.

This photo from Bharhut Stupa is a masterpiece. It was one complete monument, much more Magnificent then Sanchi...sadly, we have lost most of its remains.

Seems like it would tell us more about the civilization that wrote it than the one they were writing of!
