Madhavacharya was a great medieval saint from south india.

Yes Ameeta it is indeed amazing because south is prmarily gyan pradhan while north is bhaki pradhan traditionally.

Vidyaranya is a great saint and was the founder of the famous Vijayanagar Empire. His samadhi is in Sringeri, Karnataka. The temple is an architectural marvel.

The Panchadashi is a Vedanta work of the Advaita School and Tradition. @ Niranjan Rao, @Ameeta Roy: This particular book is not a Dwaita School work. His pre-renunciate name was MAdhava(= Krishna or lit. Consort of ramA = LakshmI) and not Madhwa(= Bliss, the sannyasa name of the great Dwaita School Acharya who was also known as AnandatIrtha) @Gouri Satya: You are right in saying that this Swami VidyaraNya was the founder of The Vijayanagara Empire who instituted two shepherds Hari hara and Bukka in whom he found Kshtriya and Raja lakShaNas. Swami vIdya raNaya had an accesss to a very great treasure and being a Sanyasi he had no use for it so helped lay the foundation of this empire so that there is someone who would protect the Hindu Dharma from extinction due to the Bahamanis and the Nizams trying to gobble up the smaller Hindu principalities. VidyaraNya's pUrvashrama(before he took sanyasa vows was Madhava. The famous commentator of the 4 Vedas SayaNAcharya was his elder brother. VidyaraNya had authored a few monumental books on Advaita Vedanta, one of them is pa~ca dashi and the other is called JIvanmuktiviveka. The samadhi/temple in Sringeri is of one Vidyashankara tIrtha one of the pontiffs of the Srigeri Math. Yeah that is an engineering marvel. It was Maadhava Vidyaranaya who gave a slight variation to Shankara's doctrine of Maya by giveing differrent meanings to avidyA and Maya which in Shankara's exposition are identical. This is a terse philosophical work

Dear Sarma-ji, Thanks for clarifying that the book in question is not a dvaita work.
