The British Library's rarest books section too is housed in a glass cage in the center of the building, with no direct sunlight coming in from any window. See "King's Library" below

Direct exposure to sunlight is harmful for books. But in our monsoon climate such windowlessness may lead to the proliferation of destructive fungi.
