6th Gurkha Rifles, 1908 (c).

Watercolour by Major Alfred Crowdy Lovett (1862-1919), 1908 (c).

Six soldiers of the 6th Gurkhas spread out along a high ridge, one with binoculars. They wear rifle green uniform with black braid, black gaiters and black 'Kilmarnock' caps. The traditional kukri fighting knife is visible on the belt of the kneeling rifleman.

This is the original artwork for an illustration in Major G F MacMunn's 'Armies of India', published in 1911.
