I think Lord of obstacles is more appropriate. Vighneshwara is rightly Lord of obstacles. "Lordness" or Ishvaratva includes causing obstacles as well as removing them at the right time. This title includes a wider spread of the meaning.

Lord Ganesha's name as listed in the seventh place in the "ganapati stotram" is "Vighnaraj" meaning the Lord of Obstacles.If you appease the lord through singing his praise, he removes the obstacles. If you do not, he lets them remain in your path or puts new ones.
