A seated figure of Chandraprabha, the eighth Tirthankara (perfected saint) of the present age. Sculpted for a shrine of the Digambara "sky-clad" sect of the Jaina Religion. Seated in the invariable pose of the Jinas in meditation (dhyana mudra) with the legs closely interlocked and hands resting in the lap. He wears a hemispherical cap, has the Shrivatsa on the breast, and is entirely nude. His cognisance (lanchanna) is the Crescent Moon (chandra) which is missing.
