Was the successor, and son, of the Gupta Emperor Chandragupta II. His mother was Dhruvadevi, the junior queen of Chandragupta. Beyond dates little is known about the events of his reign.

The Gupta Dynasty ruling most of central and north India c. AD 319/20-535. The first king Chandragupta I established a Gupta era which remained in use in central India and Nepal until the thirteenth century. The period of the Gupta empire is considered the Classical age of Hindu civilisation in India.
