Famine relief token, 1876
"India, (Victoria), famine relief token, brass ½-Seer, 1876, 19.5 mm., RELIEF ½ SEER TOKEN 1876 around circle, central hole, rev. plain, edge grained (Pr.34), some lustre on obverse, good extremely fine/extremely fine, exceedingly rare. Struck for use during the South Indian famine of 1876. Much rarer than the Bengal One Rupee famine grain token of 1874, which is itself rare."

Saw coins like this in my childhood. They were called 'kaani' in Telugu...equal to 2 pice, perhaps
distorted from Coin perhaps?
