Camels in Madras? That *is* fanciful!

There are horses in the pic too :)

Camels are also found in the Madurai Minakshi Temple. They may have been more common in the South (of, course, imported). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5NuFpWbHlg0

Camels were very common all over India thanks to the mughals and the other armies from the north who used them often.

Better than today...

I have seen camels as a boy in Madras. They were part of military processions. On occasion, we had camels imported for sacrifice on fertain holidays
