what age do you estimate this painting to be...?? it looks contemporary to me...

The date of this painting has not been mentioned at the Wellcome site. But I would presume it to be around 1700s -1800s.

late 19th Century you find such wall paintings on the walls of old havalies in Shekawati area in Rajasthan - distinctly the soldiers are carrying British type Guns.

I would agree, although am no expert...but that shade of deep indigo blue and that particular green seems to have been popular during the dates mentioned by RBSI

thanks to all for your comments..

I like this!

is there any provenance with this picture? i used to know a man in jaipur, ram sarup kumar, who could copy anything perfectly.... and im sure there were others like him... i am asking because i am trying to improve my knowledge of indian painting..

We can only presume that the Wellcome Library would have been careful enough not to have posted a recent painting in its rare collections. It is entirely possible for replicas to be passed off as genuine.
