Such job profiles in bygone era :-) Wonder what may have been the 'tools' and also episodes of ear cleaning sessions that tipped the tympanum ;-)

It is described by the painter in Urdu ' kan mail wala'

The profession still survives. I remember being approached by one (they all seem to wear amber coloured turbans) at Delhi's Palika Bazaar.

Would a book on this be titled "Trysts with Tympanum" ;-)

i know some one who gets his ears cleaned this way. Jamamasjid!!
