Not being familiar with the name or with the work of Major Edward Molyneux - a quick search of all of the usual on-line resources was made... Unfortunately, not a great deal of information seems to be available on the man, although I was able to locate Major Molyneux's obituary in the digital archive of the Times of London - this, however, only contains the barest outline of his life and military career.
Do any of the RBSI members know anything more or have any further information relating to the mysterious Major Molyneux ?

OBITUARY
MAJOR EDWARD MOLYNEUX
The death took place at Umballa on January 29 of Major Edward Joseph Molyneux, C.I.E., D.S.O., of the Indian Army.
Major Molyneux was born on March 13, 1866, and was a son of the late Mr Henry Molyneux. He was educated at Stoneyhurst College and entered the 3rd Dragoon Guards in 1887.
In 1891 he was transferred to the Indian Staff Corps, and served in the North-West Frontier operations of 1897-8. In the South African War he distinguished himself as squadron-commander of Thorneycroft’s Mounted Infantry, showing conspicuous gallantry at Colenso on February 20, 1900, when he swam the River Tugela under heavy fire, whilst covering with his Mounted Infantry the attack of General Hart’s Brigade. He took part in many other operations in Natal and the Transvaal and was dangerously wounded on more than one occasion. He was mentioned in dispatches and was awarded the D.S.O. and the medal with four clasps.
Subsequently he served with the Punjab Cavalry, and as inspecting officer of the Imperial Service Troops. He acted as Inspector-General last year, and his name appeared in the New Year’s honours as a recipient of the C.I.E.
A man of great charm and versatility, he combined a love of sport with considerable talent as a painter. He exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1899, 1900, 1901, 1904 and 1909, and he was thrice winner of the gold medal of the Viceroy for the best picture of the year painted by a member of the services in India.
Major Molyneux married, in 1902, Mary Alison, youngest daughter of Mr Thomas H.W. Knolles, of Oatlands, County Cork.
