GOOD ONE....

Strange painting!

floating head ........n .....sailing ship........IZ THIZ before DALI.....???

Mohammed Bugi Ansari and Gitanjali Karki: Exactly my thoughts!...isn't this extraordinary!

)...... RBSI... U R DOING INCREDIBLE WRK ,preserving world culture n heritage.....the BOOKS.....)))

@Gitanjali Karki-Dali was Not Born Yet two great Artists had made an Impression of Multiple Images, one was Dutch Master , Hieronymus Bosch, and other Peter Bruegel-and they were World famous, in the 17th century, In that Period, Mughal Surrealist Miniatures, in form of animals(and inside Multipule females were decorated) in MINIATURE Paintings--- already Impressing the world of Royal Collectors, than all was silent as slavery destroyed schools of Miniatures---SADLY----

Anticipating Giorgio de Chirico, no doubt. http://bit.ly/z1NZO4

Tragic that the painter is unknown.

@RBA......ya this is intersting......that is why what is left in the "sands of time of human evolution n civilization" r these invaluable gems........early cave art, tribal art, written scripts, books, sculpture, architecture........they r our legacy n we got to protect them.....!!!

It looks like Rene Magritte's previous incarnation lived in Varanasi. I admire this painting in its own right, but I can't help but think of Magritte's Son of Man and his other similar works. http://www.artloversnewyork.com/zine/wp-content/photos/Rene_Magritte_Nov_2006.jpg

I think he just couldn't be bothered to finish it. :)

Remarkable. Can anyone identify the large flag/ensign? in the background?

Notices the flag on the yardarm of the ship?

Looks like opium clippers! Red flags are associated with pirates...maybe an artistic license.

dear friends...i may say something...its about two worlds..a closed door and an opening with threshold...one is closed another can offer unlimited opportunity...

the face is a shaved head ..look at the yes...lest and right both the pupils are looking in opposite directions..to be or not to be...there is a DWIDHA...about choosing >>>

outside terrcotta coloured earth ..green grass... high fence...after crossing all these one can reach to the ships...ships are anchored as the sails are down..

the closed door is touching the ground..no threshold..

its about two worlds....one is a closed door another is an opening ..with a threshold...by crossing the threshold the person have a big opportunity..look at the pupils of the yes of the face..both the pupils are looking in opposite directions..after that there is terracotta earth outside..and green grass and high fence..and the ships are anchored

Amazing!

Anup Dave: Interesting interpretations...
