This book is an incredible feat of research. It is also an absolutely fascinating read. I have concentrated on the bits for the Northern Malabar which are my prime interest, but I expect the other bits are just as accurate. It seems extraordinary that Buchanan could amass so much information in such a short time span. A lot of it came of course from the local officials he had interviewed, but it still must have taken a great deal of collation.

SIMPLY DELIGHTED R.B.S.I.VERY INTERESTING AND HIGHLY NARRATIVE PROSE.
