The image is from Amar Chitra Katha's book on Shivaji. Thank god for Amar Chitra Katha.

Noted scholar and historian Gajanan Vishnu Mehendale after more than forty years of research has written a magnum opus on Shivaji in Marathi. His book on Shivaji in English is about to be published and is creating lot of buzz in local marathi news media. For those who are interested in history and want to read authentic and well researched book on Shivaji here is the link to buy this book. http://www.bookganga.com/eBooks/Book/5117993464126917970.htm Thank you RBSI for Photo of Wagh Nakh.It was really a treat for me.

There are many versions of the killing of Afzal Khan and esp the account of the non Indian historians are interesting. there are several other accounts which also state that along with syed banda. Afzal khan also had a brahmin bodyguard whose name i don't recollect

The other versions documented later by mughal and bijapur and later referred by Europeans, are supposed to be distorted. As no one was left alive to tell other story.

It is generally believed that Shivaji had used a WaghNagh to kill Afsal khan. In contrary to that this image shows Shivaji possessing some dagger kind of equipment. There must be many versions of this incident.

Dagger is in the air, lost by afjal when stabbed using waghnakh, Shivaji saved by protection worn and quick action.

But shivaji first used tiger claws and then used dagger kept under fore arm.
