This is a very interesting work on Indian Mathematics. Leelavathi was published in many Indian languages, including Kannada. In poetic style (Kavya), it explains the way to calculate in simple terms, which unfortunately is totally neglected today. In earlier days, our Pandits were teaching calculations from Leelavathi and therefore, it was no surprise, that many became brilliant mathematicians.

It is also interesting to note that the traditional Hindu almanac is still drafted on the basis of 'Surya Siddhanta' and 'Dugganitha'. There were only a few scholars left today who can prepare authentic 'Panchangas'. This study of this subject needs to be revived in Sanskrit schools by availing the knowledge still available.
