Jamsetjee Bund, Poona - 1855

A photograph of the Jamshetjee Bund, Poona from the 'Vibart Collection of Views in South India' taken by an unknown photographer about 1855.This bund was built by Sir Jamsetjee Jeejeebhoy after being approached by the residents of Pune who wished to contain the raging waters of Mula and Mutha rivers. Jeejeebhoy at 74 became the first Indian to be knighted by Queen Victoria in 1857.
