Watercolour of Mr. Havell's house in Danapur from 'Views by Seeta Ram from Patna to Benares Vol. II' produced for Lord Moira, afterwards the Marquess of Hastings, by Sita Ram between 1814-15. Lord Moira, the Governor-General of Bengal and the Commander-in-Chief (r. 1813-23), was accompanied by artist Sita Ram (flourished c.1810-22) to illustrate his journey from Calcutta to Delhi between 1814-15.

Mr. John Havell lived outside the Danapur cantonments. Havell produced cured meats at his farm, which was sold in Calcutta, and also experimented in wine production. View of Havell's house viewed from high up outside its front gate, with farmyard buildings set all round the grounds. Beyond the main house, a bungalow stands surrounded by a garden in a smaller enclosed area, visited by Lord Moira in 1814. Inscribed below: 'Another view of the same shewing all the Fame' [farm] 'Offices.'
