What a Kannada Scholar ! His authority on Kannada amazes ))))
The Encyclopaedia Of Indian Literature (Volume Two) (Devraj To Jyoti), Volume 2 : Rev. F. Kittel of Basel mission edited and published the stories of Pancharatna (1864) with a very scholarly introduction. It is believed that Mummadi Krishna raja wodeyar, maharaja of Mysore state, translated Pancharatna )1865) . Rev. Garret of the same mission also edited and translated Pancharatna(1865) . Both the works of these scholars were very useful to the studnets.
Prof. Mariyappa Bhat of the Madras University Dept of Kannada Studies had done great service to Kannada lovers by reprinting Kittel's dictionary in four volumes. It was available after a very long gap. Kittlel's dictionary is a real treasure.
