This is an excellent book in defence of Krishnaraja Wodeyar demanding the British to restore powers to the Maharaja. All those interested in Mysore history of that period should not miss to read this.

To be more precise it is in support ofMaharaja of Mysore, Mummadi Krishna Raja Wadiyar (1799-1868) , who relentlessly fought for restoration of his Ruling powers ever since British appointed Commissioners started direct administration of Mysore state in 1831 under a false pretext in total violation of the subsidiary Treaty of 1799. Sustained campaign across India and even in London ultimately resulted in House of Commons on Feb 22, 1867 discussing the Maharajh of Mysore's appeal to recognize his adopted son as his successor and restore the his Ruling powers. . Sir Henry Rwalinson initiated the debate. Sir Edward Colebrook spoke in support. Ultimately Britsih Government relented and Viscount Craneborn ( Later Lord Salisbury) then Secretary of State for India announced that Mysore will not be annexed to British India and Maharaja's adopted son will be restored Ruling Powers once he becomes a major. However Maharaja was denied the restoration of His ruling powers due to his old age. Soon Maharaja died on 27 March 1868, obviously a contended man Knowing Wadiyar reign would continue after all! After 50 years of British rule on 25th March 1881, Maharaja Chamaraja Wadiyar was restored Ruling powers in what is known as Rendition of Mysore. Thus began the Golden era of Mysore !
