Digital Rare Book :
The Bhagavad-Gita
With the Commentary of Sri Sankaracharya
Translated into English by A. Mahadeva Sastri
Printed at G.T.A. Printing Works, Mysore - 1901
I look forward to reading this version. Thanks for sharing this endlessly fascinating book.
Mahadeva Sastry of Mysore was a reknonwed scholar. This is one of his best works.
This is a clear exposition (translated) of the intent and ethos of Gita. Access to original material through reliable translators help.
This is one of the best translations of sankara's commentary on bhagwat gita. On a different note - all the commentaries and praise of bhagwat gita come after sankara. Why was this masterpiece ignored before ?
Alladi Mahadeva Sastry was born in Andhra. He was the first Curator of the Oriental Research Institute, Mysore, during the reign of Maharaja Krishnaraja Wodeyar IV. He has also authored a book on 'Taittareeya Upanishad', which is also an excellent work.
