Digital Rare Book :
The Shahnama of Firdausi
Done into English by Arthur George Warner and Edmond Warner
Published by Kegan Paul, Trench & Trubner & Co., London - 1905
Volume 1
The vibrant culture of Iran has been hi-jacked by extremists !!!!
Firdausi is a hero among my Persian friends who have explained to me that after Persia fell to the Arabs and the process of conversion on the edge of a sword took place, the Arabs began destroying Iran's past. It was Firdausi who took it upon himself to save what he could.
Don't argue with me about this. You can take that up with all my Persian friends who introduced me to the amazing Firdausi. :)
There's a nice translation that I figure is reasonably new, as my Farsi teachers hadn't seen it before I had it it in my backpack a few years ago. If I wasn't so lazy, I'd post useful information about it.
Agree with you Sumer, this persian poet is highly revered by our Parsis
This is off-topic but still I would like to mention over here. I awfully like the "persian" paintings. Every culture shows a characteristic style and use of colour. Persian art has petite but pretty designs. The picture associated with Shahnama is Ghaveh khaneh style.
