Collection of statues of Buddha, from Jamal-Garhi - 1880

Photograph of a collection of Buddhist statues, photographed in wooden boxes probably in Lahore prior to shipment to Calcutta from the Archaeological Survey of India Collections, taken by James Craddock in 1880. A note with the Jamal-Garhi prints reads, 'The plates entered here also include photographs taken from sculptures coming from Takht-i-Bahl and Shahr-i-Buhlul. No separate arrangement was possible. nearly all the sculptures coming from these places are now in the Indian Museum, Calcutta.'

Adrian Arthur : Thanks. I think its fair to consider the British Library to be the gold standard in library and archival science. They have probably one of the best, interactive and transparent websites.
