It s the preliminary drawing made by Thomas Daniell for the aquatint by the same artist in 'Oriental Scenery' published by T and W Daniell, 1795-1815.

Nicely captures the ancient city of Madurai. The modern day Madurai looks a concrete jungle in comparison
